theres this thing I saw on an infomercial once that actually worked forfriend. I don't remember what it's called, but on the commercial it has this bucket of the stuff and they dip penny's and tile and stuff in and it comes out normal! i'd google infomercial cleaner or as seen on tv cleaner.

Put a little in the palm of your hand and place the rings in your hand...work the toothpaste around the ring and then wipe it off with a tissue or cotton ball. Hubby asked me to clean his wedding ring and a silver ring we bought in Mexico. I threw them both in the jewlery cleaner and the silver ring came out brown. I am assuming there was a chemical reaction between the silver and something in the cleaner but I don't know what, nor how to reverse it or fix it. If it turned brown when you took it out it was probably made out of copper. you cant really do anything about that unless you take it to a person thats knows a lot about jewerly or wherever you got it from. Try rubbing it with one of those jewelry polishing cloths they sell in the jewelry dept. at Walmart, etc. If that doesn't work, then maybe it wasn't really silver, but if not, then water would've ruined it long before now. Real silver is not negatively affected by jewelry cleaner though. 1) try rubbing the ring on sliced lemon or lime
2) rub mud on the ring (this is an ancient method of shinning silver). then wash the ring under water. But be careful you dont want to lose your ring |
