there are alot of ways to know if the watch is authentic or not. aside from the serial at the back plate, there is also a serial number below the face of the watch, like in other swiss watches. there should also be a laser etched, hologram of a crown - the logo of rolex, at the front(mirror) of it. that may help it. the body should be made of stainless steel and NOT plated copper or any other copper based metal.

Your best bet is of course to buy one of those watches from an authorized dealer. Now you say you want to buy authentic so if you were to buy from an authorized Singapore retailer, the likelihood of the watch being cheaper is small. Plus you factor in the costs of a plane flight and hotel (maybe) to the overall cost. You always want to buy from an authorized dealer to make sure its Authentic and hasn't been badly repaired or the movement switched out with a cheap quartz one, then you just have a shell.

The Swiss Army does not issue watches at all. The so called Swiss Army watches are just a marketing brand. As watches are likely to be damaged in military exercises soldiers usually wear a cheap and robust watch for service. For example a Swatch. So a Rolex would not be a clever choice.
