Rolex since 1905, Omega since 1848 and Tag since 1860. All Rolex ladies and gentlemen's watches carry registration numbers that are engraved or incised into the metal. Some even have them on the dial just at the edge of the bezel. They can always be traced back to Rolex.
This number is so important, that it is on all paperwork that comes with the watch and jewelers include it in appraisals that they do for insurance purposes.
On the watches that have removable bands, it is usually on the surface of the lug or on the case between the lugs (that's the part that the watch pins fit into). Not only that, but the authentic Rolex bands have IDs also.
All 14K and 18k bands have gold marks as well as the watch itself.
Tho you might not know how to tell, any good jeweler who does watch repair or sells Rolex will be able to tell you with a moment's glance. They know all of the places the ID's should be for certain models because they have books that keep them up to date as new models come out.

Is yours authentic? If this is the case, you definitely need to take it back to the retailer that you purchased it from because there is something wrong with it. I have a Lady Datejust (not as snazzy as yours!) and have never had any problems with it. |
