The very thin, clear fishing line. It's sturdy and you can get it for cheap at WalMart.Answer: If your pearls are "real" pearls, that is cultured ...
If your pearls are "real" pearls, that is cultured or ocean pearls, please, please takeadvice and have them done professionally. the most it should cost you is $40 if you go to a local jeweler for say a 16" to 18" strand of pearls especially if the pearls are not all the same size as many strands are not (they are usually slightly smaller at the back near the clasp and get slightly larger in diameter toward the center pearl in the front. They should be strung on silk. Any good jeweler will know how to do this and what to string them on but you may want to ask him to make one knot between each pearl this will give the pearls the glamorous fall that makes them hang so perfectly. Believe me I own about 12 strands of Tahitian pearls.Question: Does 5-6mm akoya pearl necklace suppose to have cracks on them?

That means the nacre is thin in the areas and will eventually flake off. I would return them.Answer: I don't know what an akoya pearl necklace is, but I do ...
I don't know what an akoya pearl necklace is, but I do know that real quality pearls (the kind that come from oysters) do not have cracks. They do have a rough surface, which is one of the ways of making sure they are genuine pearls, but they do not have cracks. Pearls with cracks on the surface are not good quality, and are not usually used to make jewelry. So I guess the answer is that it is not normal.Question: How can I tell how much my Pearl Necklace is worth with out taking it in?
Answer: 327
327Answer: I don't know that you'll get a reliable appraisal ...
I don't know that you'll get a reliable appraisal without showing the necklace to a jeweler or expert appraiser. There are some services who will give appraisals from photographs. You can check online for one. Alternatively, if you know enough about the necklace, maker, length, size of pearls, age. You can probably call around and ask the retail price of such a necklace. That would at least give a ballpark figure. Good luck! |
