if she is young, like 20s or 30s, she probably would rather have white gold. If she is older than that I would go with yellow gold. If she doesn't have pearls, you can go with pearls too. If she already has some, she probably doesn't care to have more. The pears are all pretty much the same.

I think the pearl jewelrey would get more use because pearls look great with everyday attire, as well as really nice outfits- whereas gold looks overdone for daytime. Gold comes in and out of style, whereas pearls are timeless and such a great investment piece of jewelrey to have. My boyfriend bought me a set of pearl earings and a necklace two years ago and I wear them almost every single day!
