Chains that have been lacquered don't clean very well. You can't use a dip to soak them because if the solution gets under the lacquer it will form a cloudy film. Try a specially treated silver cleaning cloth and see if that gets you the look that you want and if that doesn't work get a soft cotton cloth and a good silver polish and polish according to the instructions.
