Try your local pawn shops. Usually items are good quality, with affordable prices. Know the value of the kind of ring you want, BEFORE you go into a pawn shop, so you will know what kind of deal you are getting. You can take your purchase to a jewelry store for cleaning and polishing for next to nothing.

Question: How much should a 14carot, white gold ring with three small diamonds be worth?
Answer: $80.00
$80.00Answer: There's no way to tell unless you get the ring valued. ...
There's no way to tell unless you get the ring valued. Aside from the 14c white gold, its impossible to value the diamonds as they could be virtually anything. Diamonds are judged on the 4 C's - cut, color, clarity, carat and unless the ring came with certification or authenticity cards, its impossible to know its features under the 4 C's. Maybe you could take a look at web site below and get some useful tips.

Yes, they can be made larger. Some jewelers even have a ring cutter that can help them take your rings off for you--without pain or discomfort.
Once that is accomplished, they take your present ring size and then put a piece of gold in the ring to make it the size you will wear now. The piece is soldered in place and the ring is polished--you won't even be able to tell that it was done when you get your rings back.Answer: Yes is the answer....wedding rings are a complete circle ...

A jeweller would have to look at the rings. Hubby and I were told the gold has worn too thin over the years to make the rings larger and it would ruin the rings. We both can't wear them any more. So our solution is on our next anniversary (next May) 30 yrs! We are both getting new rings and placing our other wedding bands in a little special jewelry box.Answer: Gold is a malleable material. Gold is a malleable material. It can be stretched no problem.
Unlike other steels which are solid, gold can be flattened out.

For the most part, yes.
(Actually, as someone pointed out, pure gold is too soft to make jewelry out of, but I assume you mean a solid gold ring.)
Almost all gold rings can easily be sized to a larger size. A good jeweler can do it within a day or so for a fair price. It is easiest when the back of the ring is smooth.
However, if you have a ring that has stones or a design all around the edge, it is a lot harder and more expensive to make it larger. The jeweler may have to add more stones to fill in the extra space, or it may be more difficult (or impossible) to match a complicated design without a gap.
In the meantime, to try to get them off, you can use Dawn or another dishwashing soap to help. Make sure your hands are as cold as possible to keep swelling down and make it easier to slide off. You could also try vegetable oil to make it slippery.
If you are stuck, a jeweler can help you remove them. |
