Answer: 18k means it's 18 karat gold. Not sure what the 750 is, ...
18k means it's 18 karat gold. Not sure what the 750 is, but could be the makers mark- a symbol, letters, etc representing the goldsmith/jeweler. Not all pieces have them, though. As to determining its worth, the weight of the ring in grams and if there are any gemstones will come into play. Take it to a jeweler and see if they can do an appraisal.

It tells you what quality the gold is and I think that 750 is the standard for 18 karat gold which is the one down from 24 karat which is the best quality. It does depend on the weight and size of the ring for its value, if it is a nice looking or very well made ring by a recognised fine jeweller such as Cartier or Asprey then it could be worth more than its gold weight.

18k means 18carat and as far as I know, 750 would indicate parts per 1000 that is gold. 9 carat is 375 parts gold of 1000 units of metal hope that explains a bit. as for value, depends on age, design, size, workmanship -best asking an expert good luck chick

18 carat. It's to do with how much gold is actually in it. (the 750 is just a different way of writing it) 9 carat is most common (and cheapest). 18 carat is very expensive. So yes, it's worth quite a bit.

Answer: Absolutely pure gold is 24 carat. 18 carat is 18/24ths ...
Absolutely pure gold is 24 carat. 18 carat is 18/24ths gold (i.e. three-quarters gold). 750 means 750 parts per thousand gold, which is another way of saying three-quarters gold OR seventy-five percent. So 18K and 750 BOTH mean the same. By the way, these marks ONLY appear on gold from the USA. ('K' stands for 'karat' which we call 'carat' and spell with the letter 'C').

Question: Why is my white gold ring turning 'gold' gold?
I have a white gold engagement ring which I have had 7 years. About 6 months ago, my husband bought me an eternity ring (also white gold) and I wear them on the same finger. They both started off the same colour, but the engagemant ring has now started to turn a golden colour. What is going on here and how do I stop it getting any worse?

Answer: White gold is an alloy of gold and at least one white metal, ...
White gold is an alloy of gold and at least one white metal, such as silver or palladium. Like yellow gold, white gold is measured in carats. Its properties vary depending on the metals and proportions used. As a result, white gold alloys can be used for different purposes; while a nickel alloy is hard, strong and therefore good for rings and pins, white gold-palladium alloys are soft, pliable and good for white gold gemstone settings. The highest quality white gold is usually at least 17 karat, and made up of gold and palladium, and sometimes even trace levels of platinum for weight and durability, although this often requires specialised goldsmiths. While some higher quality white gold alloys retain their shine and lustre, most will be coated with a very thin layer of rhodium. This will give the naturally more dull white gold a shine comparable to platinum or silver. Often white gold will require cleaning, or re-coating of rhodium at a later date.

I only found this out today becausesister-in-law has just got married. Her engagement and wedding rings are both white gold. She had to take her engagement ring to the jewellers because they were different colours. Apparently you have to have white gold dipped or treated once a year because they do turn yellow ish. Never heard of this before it's the advice the jewellers gave her!

What ever you like. I wear a silver watch with a white gold ring and on the other hand a gold ring. It doesnt matter, there are no rules to your personal style. If I liked the way it looks, I would wear it!

You can wear any gold next to gold if you like it. (even white gold, silver and platinum.) No one is going to come up and say, "You know, you really shouldn't wear 9K gold next to 18K gold." And if they do? Tell them that you like it and to mind their own beeswax.

Answer: I have no clue as to what caratsengagement and wedding ...
I have no clue as to what caratsengagement and wedding rings are, or even if they are the same carat. I wear them because I like them and because I am totally, hopelessly, wonderfully in love withhusband and I like the symbolism they show. The diamond is rather large, which I first thought was extravagant and ostentatious, as I'm still not one for jewelry. I would have been happy with an opal, as that'sfavorite stone. Wear what you like. If you're concerned about one wearing the other out, talk to a jeweler.

Answer: I always think gold is gaudy, but class rings are supposed ...
I always think gold is gaudy, but class rings are supposed to be gaudy. The idea of 'white gold' is dumb because it's like adding the spirit of wealth to silver, which is a nice enough metal on its own, and it's adding softness to an already soft metal. Gold doesn't tarnish as easily as silver, but the ring you've got there looks electroplated, and if the choice is between plated and solid, I'd go for the 'white gold' because solid will look better in the long run than plated. Then again, our planetary resources are finite, and until we have asteroid mining and/or nanobots, the alloying of metals is not something that I think it is wise to support as a consumer. But most gold these days is less than 24-carat anyway. If you have dark skin, gold will look better on it than it does on light skin, but most colors look better on brown than tan anyway. On final analysis, the block lettering and black background of a class ring really goes better with the idea of a big gold ring than it does a big silver ring. Silver is for delicacy and reflection of beauty, but gold honors the subject while drawing attention to it. Go for the gold.
