Welcome to JewelrySoupJewelry Soup: Engagement Rings, Custom Made Engagement Rings, Cleane Engagement Rings Question: Is it expensive to get an engagement ring custom made?
I found a Varna engagement ring I am absolutely in love with (never knew inanimate objects could make me so excited). My boyfriend asked me to tell him when I see rings I really like but I can't in good conscience tell him about this ring - it is too expensive. I do have some diamonds from my grandmother that I would like to use in a setting and I wanted to know if it is affordable to get a ring custom made. Could we take a picture of this Varna ring to a jewler and ask them to make a knock-off with a budget in mind? I've looked for this ring used online and haven't found it.Answer: Not really, in fact I had mine custom made forwife and ...
Not really, in fact I had mine custom made forwife and it wound up being less expensive than it would otherwise have been, because the jeweller charged me the time it took him to make it plus the diamond and the white gold - which was cheaper than the retail price on his other rings. It would especially be cheaper if you had some diamonds to begin with.
Go to your local jeweller (not jewellery shop owner, there's a difference) and ask them what it would be worth to make it. Keep in mind if it is already in existence, he might not be able to copy it because of copyright reasons.Answer: You could take a picture to a jeweler and see if he can make ...
You could take a picture to a jeweler and see if he can make something just like it using the diamonds you have! And sometimes it costs more to make an custom ring b/c of all the details you might want! It depends on what all you want done to it!Answer: http://mdcdiamonds.com/ this nyc store can make it for at ...

si1 or si2, a is colorless, and as you work you way through the alphabet it gains color. it all depends on your budget.Answer: The best color quality starts at "D" and works its ...
The best color quality starts at "D" and works its way down the alphabet. The clarity can be from Fl (flawless) down to I (imperfect).
FL Flawless - No internal or external imperfections visible using a 10X microscope.
IF Internally Flawless - No visible internal imperfections, but may have minor surface blemishes visible when using a 10x microscope.
VVS1-VVS2 Very, very slightly included - Inclusions that are extremely difficult for a skilled observer to locate using a 10x microscope.
VS1-VS2 Very slightly included - Very small inclusions that are very difficult for a skilled observer to locate using a 10x microscope. In rare instances, with larger stones, some
VS1/VS2 inclusions can be seen with the naked eye, after first being located using a microscope.
SI1-SI2 Slightly included - Refers to diamonds which have small inclusions that can be easily located using a 10x microscope. In some instances, such inclusions can be seen with the naked eye, after first being located using a 10x microscope.
I1-I3 Imperfect - Medium to large inclusions which are readily apparent to a skilled observer with the unaided eye.Answer: Really, you shouldn't go any lower in clarity then SI1. ...
Really, you shouldn't go any lower in clarity then SI1. Color is a matter of taste - and I have to mention, more important then color is cut - the physical proprtions of the stone. A higher quality cut can disguise a lower quality color, and this means a better value for your dollar. You can gain as much as 2 color grades to the eye when you go with an Ideal cut stone vs a Good.
Go to your local, independent jeweler and have them show you the difference between different quality stones. Don't go to a mall jeweler, and do not buy online, and rely on the letter grades on the paper - a D, Flawless can look really crappy if it's cut poorly.Question: Is it safe to clean my platinum engagement ring with lens cleaner?
The other day I sprayed a little lens cleaner that my mom uses to clean her glasses on my platinum engagment ring and it made it soooo shiney and clean. it works better than anything that I have tried. however, I was just wondering if it was safe to use on platinum and diamonds before I keep using it.Answer: I am sure the lens cleaner contains ammonia. I am sure the lens cleaner contains ammonia. My wife has used a half and half (Windex and distilled water) solution on her 18k gold and diamond ring. It does make it look like new. After 6 years, it looks like the day I bought it for her. So, from experience, I would guess you are safe.
link below confirms most of what I have discovered.Question: Can I have my engagement ring cleaned for little/no cost?
My fiance got my ring at Zales, but I do believe he ordered it online. Can I take it to have it cleaned occasionally, if needed?

The easiest way is to clean it in a little ammonia and dishwashing liquid mixed together. This will clean it. Use a soft brush. This what many jewellers use.
Polishing is a mechanical process and you'll need a machine for that to say take out scratches etc.Answer: You can get your own jewlery cleaning kit at stores like ...

They will clean anyone's jewelry for free...regardless of where it was bought. They do it as a free service, because during the 5 minutes it's in the ultrasonic cleaner, they want you to look around and possibly find something to buy. Any jeweler I have ever been to, does this.Answer: Zales may do this because it was purchased there you should ...
Zales may do this because it was purchased there you should take it in every now and then to have it check to see that the stone is in place and will not come loose. In the mean time get a soft tooth brush and some tooth paste and give it a little scrub not too hard and it will look real nice!Answer: Here is a great way to clean your ring. My wife uses it to ...
Here is a great way to clean your ring. My wife uses it to clean hers and it always looks great. The good part is too that it uses things that you will probably have round the house anyway such as washing up liquid.
