Question: what questions should I ask the jewler about and diamond engagement ring? is this ring I found good?

i found a ring I really like for my GF. its round cut with a platinum setting .. diamonds that run along the side leading to the main rock on the top. it is .52 and total .82 and is on sale for 2400. is that a good price? this guy is a local dealer and I dont know him. any advise on what to get or how to get it or what questions to ask etc would be appreciated. my girl likes princess cut but the round has more brilliance and retains more value I believe.

I was getting my nails done then I put my hands under the uv light then I noticed one of the three diamonds on my engagement ring turned blue and the other 2 were clear. So now I wonder which of the diamonds are good or which ones are fake...

It's normal for diamonds to sometimes turn blue under blacklights. It's called "diamond industry fluorescence". It can sometimes depreciate the value of the diamond, but not often. So, in answer to your question, chances are that none of the diamonds in your ring are fake. Congratulations on your engagement!

I bought a ring from Rogers and Hollands 2 years ago for a woman I was going to propose to. Unfortunately, she broke my heart so I never gave it to her. Why no luck on-line? Are you trying to get what you paid for it? Because that is not likely to happen. I think the on-line sites you mentioned are your best best. You could advertise it in a newspaper, but that eats into what you sell it for as well. Bottom line is you're probably going to have to take a loss, but I say get rid of this bad memory and move on.

I would try to find a reputable appraiser - they usually know who might be in the market for such a ring - bankruptcy trustees (an arm of the court) use them all the time to value rings - you might also try a smaller/local type jeweler - they may take it from you on a contingency basis. ok so my bf asked me yesterday where we should start looking for rings at!!! YAAAY!!! we've been dating 3 years and i've been not-so-patiently waiting for this moment (but I haven't pressured him-just been secretly driving myself crazy lol) I don't want to go to just any jewelry store to get my ring (he said I have a 5k limit).
