i found a ring I really like for my GF. its round cut with a platinum setting .. diamonds that run along the side leading to the main rock on the top. it is .52 and total .82 and is on sale for 2400. is that a good price? this guy is a local dealer and I dont know him. any advise on what to get or how to get it or what questions to ask etc would be appreciated. my girl likes princess cut but the round has more brilliance and retains more value I believe.Answer: hi, sounds like a good deal. hi, sounds like a good deal. Im a jeweler and 2400 actually sounds a bit cheap for that ring. ask him if it is pre-owned and make sure to see it for yourself under a gemscope and ask the jeweler to plot all inclusions for you, a poor diamond quality may be why its so cheap, what karat gold is it, was it a custom made peice or mass produced?...check out a blog I made to help people choose things with a better knowledge . if you have any other questions ask onblog or email me and I will be happy to help you. =)

It's normal for diamonds to sometimes turn blue under blacklights. It's called "diamond industry fluorescence". It can sometimes depreciate the value of the diamond, but not often. So, in answer to your question, chances are that none of the diamonds in your ring are fake.
Congratulations on your engagement!Answer: Well kinda, some stones ...
Some stones have picked up a bit of florecense while they were forming, and your diamonds are all different its almost certain that they came from different mines and therefore have very slightly different composition. dont worry about it, some people prefer to have these diamonds that glow blue! =) http://jewelrypurchase.blogspot.com/Answer: it means there is fluorescence that cheapens the value so ...

I bought a ring from Rogers and Hollands 2 years ago for a woman I was going to propose to. Unfortunately, she broke my heart so I never gave it to her. Rogers and Hollands won't take it back and I'm looking for a way to get rid of the ring to "close that chapter" of my life. I've tried craigslist and ebay with no luck. Any other advice for me?
P.S. The ring is .72 carats, not a clusterAnswer: Not really. Rings are hard to sell. Unless you have a ...
Not really. Rings are hard to sell. Unless you have a spectacular diamond in the middle, no one wants it.
Carats sell better than clustersAnswer: Why no luck on-line? Are you trying to get what you paid for ...
Why no luck on-line? Are you trying to get what you paid for it? Because that is not likely to happen. I think the on-line sites you mentioned are your best best. You could advertise it in a newspaper, but that eats into what you sell it for as well. Bottom line is you're probably going to have to take a loss, but I say get rid of this bad memory and move on.Answer: I would try to find a reputable appraiser - they usually ...
I would try to find a reputable appraiser - they usually know who might be in the market for such a ring - bankruptcy trustees (an arm of the court) use them all the time to value rings - you might also try a smaller/local type jeweler - they may take it from you on a contingency basis. I know one of the jewers in Osseo used to do that - "The Jewelrs Workbench" - right off of Jefferson Hwy in Osseo.Question: how long will an engagement ring at a mall jeweler (will be- kay or gordon) take to make?
if I go in and decided on one and told them the size I wanted, how long should it take them to set it...if they aren't busy? do they do it on premise? not a customized ring, just deciding on a ring and the size (solitare)Answer: Ask them, thats the easiest way to find out!

I don't shop at the places you mentioned, but I would think it wouldn't take some since so many people go there. And they probably send the items out to be done.Question: Jeweler recommendations for engagement ring?!!?
ok so my bf asked me yesterday where we should start looking for rings at!!!
YAAAY!!! we've been dating 3 years and i've been not-so-patiently waiting for this moment (but I haven't pressured him-just been secretly driving myself crazy lol)
I don't want to go to just any jewelry store to get my ring (he said I have a 5k limit).
I live in AZ and the only jewelry store locally that I like is Shane Co (i've found one there) but would like some online ideas (overseas sellers welcome too)
I'm looking for a princess cut as number 1 choice but would be open to some unique ideas.
