Question: How much is a 4ct Diamond ring worth?

It is 4ct and is about an F and VS2 and is set in 18ct white gold AHEE appraised it for $24,000, why? I thought it was worth about 35,000 but yea and does anyone know a good place to sell it other than ebay?

It requires a subscription, but all jewelers subscribe... if you go to a jeweler, he'll be able to look it up on the sheet. Otherwise, you can get a subscription at the link... I found another source that may or may not be reliable that only went to 3ct... 3.00 F VS2 Very Good Round $42,881.00 The price does not go up $X per carat, because the larger a diamond is, the more rare it is... A 4ct diamond could actually be twice the price of a 3ct. [edit] The third link has exactly what you are looking for. It depends on the cut, and there is quite a range, but you have a very large, very valuable stone on your hands. To sell it, you'd likely get your best deal putting it on consignment, or selling it through a broker.

If it appraised at only $24,000, then you must have a very poor quality cut on your hands. Or it's not the carat weight, color and/or clarity you are describing here. Look at your appraisal for the answer. As for reselling it... eBay, Amazon maybe... try craigslist, too.... but you're not going to get a single penny over the appraised value, and probably alot less, maybe 50% of it..

Strange, if it is a round brilliant with very good cut we are talking much higer values these days wholesale for this size ! First, get it to a serious gemological lab such as AGS or GIA for grading. The ring usually has no impact unless it is a rare piece from a very famous jeweller like Cartier, ... Then, offer it to a diamond wholesaler, like me.

I say if you like the way it looks then wear it. It's not up to anyone else to dictate your style. Be individual! The one thing I would suggest is to maybe balance it with another ring on your ring/middle finger. If the diamond ring is large then you could wear a smaller ring, and vice versa. Inopinion, this seems to stop either ring standing out so much and looks more natural.
