If the stones are really what he says they are than it's quite an okay deal. To give you an idea: F color is a very good color, SI clarity means it's not a clean stone, it has black inclusions etc... But that's probably not visible in such small stones, and not with the naked eye. Colors in diamonds go from D - M+, D being the best color (very clear white) M being a lower color which has a yellowish teint. Clarity goes from LC - I3, LC meaning Loup Clean, so no inclusions at all, VVS is very minimum inclusions, mostly white. VS is minimum inclusions, often black. SI means with inclusions, mostly black. I is many inclusions. The price is okay for the carats and also counting the weight of the gold.

Answer: My engagement ring is pink sapphire and diamond. Rings look ...
My engagement ring is pink sapphire and diamond. Rings look great when they're cleaned, but you shouldn't do it too often. Remember to take it off before you wash with soap or do the dishes, and also before you do any gardening or cooking etc, anything that involves getting your hands dirty! This should keep your ring sparkling longer. I tend to cleanrings myself when they need it, usually just with water and a soft toothbrush. Occasionally with a gentle gem-cleaner or a very little toothpaste! Penelope Pitstop - Sapphire is the name for the gem corundum when it isn't red. It can be any colour! (Red is Ruby)

Do it yourself whenever you have a few minutes. Use the clear liquid spray dettol (used to be dettox) put your jewellery into a small glass and cover with the liquid, agitate gently and leave for 5 mins. Use an artists stubby paint brush dipped in the liquid to remove fatty skin residue etc and put back for another 5 mins. Rinse in cold water and dry on kitchen paper. Much less expensive than going to a jeweller or paying for their products. You could also use Gin, but personally speaking, I think thats much better in a glass in your hand with lemon, ice and tonic whilst the dettol does it's job! Don't use coke, yes it creates a shine but it also damages the metal and boiling water softens the gold so that the clasps on the shanks loosen and you could lose the stones.

where will I find good deals?

Good deals - at a regular jewelry store like Jareds, Zales, Helzberg - you can compare prices there. If you want a really nice surprise go to Tiffany's! Check out their websites before you go to get an idea of what they have and how much it costs. It makes it tougher for them to upsell you if you know exactly what you're looking for before you get there.

Answer: If you haven't considered a Moissanite ring you really ...
If you haven't considered a Moissanite ring you really MUST DO. Moissanite is not a diamond, but it has even more fire than diamonds do and it's NOT a diamond simulate. It's just incredibly beautiful and has incredible hardness, meaning it will last a lifetime. You can look in online places such as eBay and Amazon for either the stone or the stone with the setting, but as a woman the setting is very very important to me and I would want to choose it myself. Also, jewelry retailers have a HUGE mark up. If you consider your purchase the same as purchasing a new car, then be prepared to bargain for your ring and even walk away the first day if necessary. They want to sell that ring as much as you want to buy it and you can get money off the selling price if you play it right. I got about $400 offwedding ring in this way. Good Luck!

Answer: yes, you can use rubbing alcohol to remove surface smudges ...
yes, you can use rubbing alcohol to remove surface smudges and dirt - however, really stuck on, nasty dinginess really needs to be removed with a professional quality jewelry cleaner (which you can get at any drug store these days). If you just want to remove fingerprints and such, rubbing alcohol pads are a jeweler's little secret weapon - I have always kept a stash of them on hand for when I show a piece that's been previously handled, but haven't had time to steam it clean...

Yes, you can use alcohol to clean a diamond. Put 1 cup of water in a small pot. Add 1/4 cup of ammonia. Set a strainer on the rim of the pot, a few inches from the water. Put the ring in the strainer. Steam clean the ring over low/medium heat. This works great.
