diamonds are much more common than u think...the debeers cartel controls the market, and holds them back.....diamonds are'nt forever, they're for suckers......go for a different gemston...unless your loved one has her heart set on on...then you're a sucker for life....

Answer: You are supposed to spend six months salary on the ring, and ...
You are supposed to spend six months salary on the ring, and when your girlfriend sees how big (or how small) a diamond six months of your salary will buy, she can decide whether or not you can support her in the manner to which she is accustomed. As for how much an averaged sized diamond ring will cost, you will have to consult your local jeweler. To know how many months salary is the price of that ring, take the price that the jeweler give you and divide that by a month of your salary to find how many months it will take to pay for that ring.

Answer: You buy what you can afford. If you buy it at a jeweler ...
You buy what you can afford. If you buy it at a jeweler that accepts it back as a trade, you can always trade up to a bigger size down the road. You MUST first do a search for "Diamonds 4 C's" before you worry about how many month's salary or you can get ripped off - big time. They are all things that tell you about the diamond's size and QUALITY. Carats (size/weight) Color (self explanatory) Cut (shape and facets) and Clarity (how clear the diamond is of things like fisures and carbon spots) You can buy a HUGE diamond with bad Color, Cut and Clarity for very little, while a SMALL stone with great Color, Cut and Clarity can be quite expensive. There's a zillion in between options as well. RESEARCH it before you spend anything! There's way too much you need to know for me to tell you here. You will need to ask about all of those "4 C's" as the industry calls them, when you go to make the purchase, no matter how many months salary it is. It is always best to buy the largest stone, of the best quality you can AFFORD at the time of purchase. Here are just a few examples of the MANY things you need to consider/ learn about before you buy any diamond. A traditional round diamond solitaire can hide less than perfect Color, Clarity and Cut. A Princess Cut (square_ can not- it needs to have great Color, Clarity and Cut to be beautiful. The LESS color a white diamond has the more costly. They also assign grades to diamonds. An F = Flawless; very rare an expensive. I1 & I2 have imperfections you can see with the eye and no magnification. There are several more grades in between. I think just those few examples show you why it is so important to know WHAT you are buying before you decide how much to spend. Good luck! Speel checker is down and I am tired-apologies!

Most piercing shops probably dont stock them but can easily order them for you - another alternative - although not as good is to go to a jewellery shop they often sell body jewellery made with varying levels of Gold and Diamonds however they are usually handmade and to be honest not shaped very well - they dont buy from body jewellery specialists whereas piercing places buy from body jewellery specialists so you get a much better quality of jewellery.

Question: Help?! Tiffany Setting Diamond Engagement ring?! Yes?! No?!?
Ok, so my boyfriend bought me a .39 diamond engagement ring in a platinum Tiffany setting. Picture here: http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?subCategoryid=1001 I always wanted a 1 karot emerand cut diamond ring with diamonds on the side, but right now neither of us have much money. My boyfriend got the Tiffany ring for $1,500, which is a great deal since it's currently worth $2,650 at the Tiffany store. I am still waiting for the ring to arrive & am unsure if I will like it since the setting looks fairly plain. My fiance says that I can return the ring and choose a different one if I want, but that means more money spent on a non-discounted ring. I want the ring to look nice without breaking his bank account, but I just don't know if the TIffany setting ring will cut it. Honestly, has anyone ever purchased this ring before & are you happy with it? Also, do you think that my diamond size is too small? Should we save up for a larger one later? Or go for the discount?

I think you are a very lucky lady - the ring you posted a link for is both beautiful and timeless....and a bargain! Many women would dream for a ring like that! I think the diamond is just right. Any bigger and it looks pretentious, any smaller and it may be too discreet for you. Ok its not 'out there' but surely "fairly plain" isn't a bad thing? This is a ring you will hopefully be wearing for the rest of your life, even when your 85 years old. It could end up a family heirloom. If you are set on the ring you had in your head by all means save up and look for another since this is an important purchase - but make sure you don't hurt your fiancé in the process!! Just wait for the original ring to arrive before deciding for sure though :) Good luck and congratulations on your engagement!

That ring is stunning, once you put it on to a nicely manicured hand ............ you just wont want to take it off.

Yes, this ring is absolutely gorgeous! Justopinion though... My sister has a Tiffanys setting ring and she's had it for a few years now. Tiffanys is awesome for follow up, like if the diamond is ever damaged, needs to be cleaned, etc they will do it all for you with no charge. My best advice for your sake though, don't settle. If you don't love it then what's the point? The ring is a symbol of your commitment to each other and you will have to look at it every single day. If you can't afford it now, you can always upgrade later when finances are in better shape. Congrats and Good luck hun!
