i would say most of the stores will but then it depends if they have the appropirate equipment and person there to help you check professionally and you would have to pay them a small fee unless it's the store that you visits them regularly..Question: Hi. Where can you go that you can trust to get a diamond ring reset?
My boyfriend (he hasn't given me the ring yet) went to a wholesaler and got me a gorgeous ring. It's almost a carat. It's .91. We thought it was a g color and I clarity (which we figured would be appraised at around $3700). I was asked was kind of setting I wanted. Knowing the band I tried with the loose stones was a tiffany I was asked did I want a high or a low setting? I said low. But the ring that was created was way too high. I was told it was a medium. The problem is we got an appraisal along with the ring and it was appraised at color e and clarity of si2 and valued at $6975! The ring is gorgeous! but I have been thinking about it and I want maybe the cathedral setting I saw in Zales which I like. But I don't want to ruin the appraised value or lose the diamond he picked for me? Where can I go to have it reset? I yhink I can buy the band plain at zales and have it reset elsewhere. But where can I go to get an honest resetting? I want that diamond not a cheap look alike.
Oops. The cathedral setting I like is actually found at Whitehall jewelers. Not zales.Answer: taKE A picture of it.... and remember a lot of places switch ...
taKE A picture of it.... and remember a lot of places switch diamonds. call better business bureau... or look for some place that has been in business thirty years..or more. ask others... who may make recommendation.Answer: NO Mall jewelers! Go to a jeweler that has been in business ...
NO Mall jewelers! Go to a jeweler that has been in business for a long time and is located in a locked office (you must have an appointment) in a downtown location. In Atlanta he's located in the Bank of America building.... In Cincinnati, he's located in a plain office building. You may have to ask the jewelers you'v visited to find these jewelers. Many won't give you an appointment unless you've been sent by another dealer for security reasons.Answer: thats excellent I just bought a setting at whitehall restyle ...
thats excellent I just bought a setting at whitehall restyle show most dealers send the diamond off but I was not going to send off a $16000 champagne diamond so what you do is go to whitehall and ask them when there restyle show is going to be and they will set the diamond right in front of you it is greatAnswer: The cathedral mounting is very common, so any jeweler could ...
The cathedral mounting is very common, so any jeweler could do that for you. Just don't go to some pawn shop or hole in the wall place to do it - go to a reputable independent jeweler in your town - ask some other people for their recommendations....Question: I would like to sell a diamond ring of mine.?

hope I could help.
=]Answer: Maybe mention what it was appraised for and offer a price ...
Maybe mention what it was appraised for and offer a price 20-25% lower than appraisal? That may give people an incentive to buy it...Answer: replacement value is what your insurance company would have ...
replacement value is what your insurance company would have to pay you to get a new one should something happen to your current one. It in no way reflects a reesale value of your stone. You would be lucky to get half that if you resold it on the open market.
Unless your diamond is truly exceptional (and I'm talking more then 5 carats, exceptional color and clarity, well cut), then the resale value is almost nil. Kind of like a car - once you "drive it off the lot" so to speak, you lose half your value.
Sorry.....Question: How can I tell if a diamond ring is real?

Found and posted this ring last week as a cheesy gold ring with 11 fake diamonds, what do I know? It looked fake but, had the weight and no stamp. Took it to a coin/antique jewelry dealer today who I have been going to for a few years and had the ring checked. He examined it and said it?s real gold and diamonds but I wasn?t happy with just a look and asked him to test the gold for purity. He did two tests, 9K which passed and a 14K that started to break up so he thinks it could be an odd 12K gold ring. I asked how he knows the diamonds are real and he pulled out a diamond tester, I didn?t know they existed, and the stones tested positive diamonds. He said the ring was probably custom made with a mix of gold. Over the weekendwife showedMother-in-law the ring, she really liked it so I?m going to give it to her, it fit nicely as well. The dealer said I might get $250.00 on the used market and I think he was being realistic so giving it toMother-in-law will be a pleasure as she is worth much more in babysitting time aloneAnswer: see if it can cut glass

Option one: Take out a small piece of class and (making sure only the diamond is at the surface) cut a scratch as hard as you can. If the scratch is really deep, it's most likely a diamond.
Option two: Take it to a jeweler. They have special machines that can test diamonds. While you're there, you can probably also get an estimate on it if you plan on selling.
Option three: If you live near a pawn shop, they also have machines there that can test if it's real or not.
Warning: Do not judge by how the rock looks. There's no definate way to tell if it's a diamond by just looking at it.Answer: My husband boughtrings at Jared's and if there is ...
My husband boughtrings at Jared's and if there is one near your house take it by and ask them to appraise it for you. Cutting it on glass is an idea but if I were you I would take it to a jeweler. It might be better if there are no scratches on it but then the jeweler can buff it. Good luck with that!! |
