Question: I have a handmade silver link necklace and earring set with porcelain inlaid it has diamonds on the necklace

the necklace and the earrings has a drawing on the porcelain inlaid.the back of the set looks like it has some kind of black silver or a dark silver glaze

People will laugh at your fake looking bling. If it is a real diamond set it in gold, platnium or titanium. Should I hand it down tochildren? Not until you've reset it. What it this porcelain stuff? If it's really really really old it might be an ivory cameo. If it's really old it might be porcelain. However porcelain is delicate and prone to breaking and cracking. If it's not old, it's probably a strong plastic made to look like ivory. Which it probably is. Because it's set in silver.

The chain is usually the weakest link and if you wear it to bed it is pretty easly to get it tangled up with something and it may break. The shower won't hurt anything but it does tend to build up soap and water film. If you want to wear it in the shower you should plan to clean it or have it cleaned a couple times a month to keep it shiny and pretty. Good luck

I would advise you just to take it off when you go to sleep incase it gets tangled in your hair and a diamond can be pulled out. The chain will also be very delicate so you dont want to break it. In the shower will be ok and everyday wear is fine!

i say NO! because you dont want to risk ruining it in the shower by getting soap in the creases around the diamonds and like someone else said you dont want to lose a diamond when it's loose and when your sleeping you dont know what your movements are like and you could probably rip it off by accident, ruining it.....so take it off before you sleep and when you shower and wear it whenever else you, ALWAYS treat diamonds with care they are expensive for a reason, they're rare!

As much as you like your new necklace, it would be better to take it off before you go to sleep or take a shower. Others have already pointed out that if the stone is loose, it could get lost, or your hair could get tangled in the necklace. Another thing is that if you wear your necklace all the time, after while a layer of body oils and soap can build up on the chain and the diamond, making both look dull. It will be well worth the few dollars to buy a jar of jewelry cleaner that is safe for all jewelry. Most jewelers and jewelry counters carry it. Follow the directions with the cleaner and you can keep your diamond and other jewelry sparkling the way it should.

i think that would be a little weird. I personally wouldnt do that because they have a different look. I wear diamond studs with normal clothes, or wear gold balls for browns and stuff and then I wear pearls when I want a classier look.

They are very easy to find. As long as the store sells fine jewelry, they will probably have that style (sometimes in a pendant, sometimes on the chain.) I have no clue what style you want, or your price range. Maybe just go to eBay to find exactly what you want, and what you want to spend.
