That IS a little hard, but I DO know how you can tell if a diamond is more valuable, or better, than one that isn't. You simply look at the diamond that is more white, and less yellow. The one with a more yellow tint is less valuable. hope that helps! :)

Depends what you mean by "fake". Cut glass and other cheap imitations don't look anything like real diamonds so simple observation will tell you. However, these days, there are techniques that make synthetic diamonds completely indistinguishable from real diamonds. They cost a fraction of what real diamonds cost and you can only tell the difference by shining a special light on them (they floresce a different color). Who knows if there is a new technique out there that gets around this limitation. In the US, it is unlikely you will buy a fake diamond from a reputable jeweler. Outside this country though, it is VERY likely.

Then, on holiday in Spain months later, he bought me a ring with a huge clear rock in it - which the person in the shop TOLD him was a 'diamond' - unfortunately, anyone with half a brain could look at it and instantly see that it was so big, that if it WERE a diamond it would be worth tens of thousands of pounds! Then,dozy man went out and bought a third ring - this time asking the seller for actual confirmation that it was a genuine diamond... and I became the owner of a beautiful solitaire ring... about four sizes too big! *sigh* Good job I adore him just the daft way he is!! as for the question... A real diamond will have a natural sparkle to it in the light, won't be entirely clear, and will cut glass/scratch it on contact. Plus the cost should give a good indicator too!

I would not worry, Bulova has an account with Overstock.com. Overstock deals in their close-out pieces and buys them in bulk to sell on their site. Oh, and yes, the Diamonds are Real on Bulova. They use "single-cuts" which are less expensive diamonds. ( basically they have less facets then a round brilliant )But, yes...they are diamonds. Hope this helps...

Man-made diamonds which are a fraction of the price of "real" ones now are so good that they can only be detected by a sophisticated piece of equipment. I am surprised people still spend so much on diamond jewellery. Soon people will have to carry a card proving a diamond's authenticity, but then the card could be fake.

i dont think you can really tell the difference unless you use one of those magnafying glass things that the jewlers have to see inside of the stone. I actually got a very real good quality diamond engagement ring thats clarity was excellent but some people I worked with told mme that it looked like a cubic zirconia or something. when I went to the jewlere to get it appraised they couldnt believe how clear cut the diamond was and how much it was worth. so you see it can be hard to tell the difference just from the human eye
