One of the home shopping networks carry these really brilliant man made stones. You can probably buy the entire ring for not a lot, then just transfer the stone to your own ring. Its home shopping network and they call them absolute. I wouldn't get the diamonique from QVC though. Its just a suggestion. you can see some of their stuff online at the website.

you should look at moissanite. they have 2 1/2 times the fire of a diamond, they measure 9.25 on the mohs hardness scale (just below a diamond) they are very durable and much higher in quality compared to a cz. I don't know where you can buy a loose stone, but they are sold in settings at hsn or jc penney. you may be able to buy a pendant or earrings and have the stone set in your setting. make sure the moissanite comes from charles and covard if you decide to buy one.

Answer: Moissanite looks greenish-yellow compared to a diamond, and ...
Moissanite looks greenish-yellow compared to a diamond, and it sparkles more. CZ scratches very easily. Atstore, we sell as stone called Lannyte, which is very hard, just under a diamond in hardness, and has a very similar refraction/reflection of a diamond. It also comes with a lifetime warrenty. I would suggest this stone.

a real diamond reflects the light throughout the stone and it glitters and it becomes a rainbow of colors. It reflects back to you. Almost a shimmer. A fake is crystal clear and you can see it is a stone, but it doesn't do anything. That is what crystal is so I guess they could make fakes that do that. I don't know. Crystal reflects back.

Real diamonds will cut glass. Fake ones will not. You cannot tell just by the color alone. If your wonder if your's is real; I would not recommend trying it out on a piece of glass. Take it to a jewelry appraiser and have it check it out.

Answer: Well, the difference is that when you buy something in a ...
Well, the difference is that when you buy something in a Jewerly Store, you might see that some earring, for example, are more low-price than others that are expensive when they have diamonds. That is too, when you compare them, you can see a bright light coming out of the diamond when a light hits it or if a flash of a camera hits it. Real diamonds are expensive too than the ones that aren't real. Hope this helps!!!

Answer: huge difference between real and fake. first of all, real ...
huge difference between real and fake. first of all, real diamonds are composed of pure crystallized carbon, the hardest natural substance known to man. although diamond is incredibly hard it can chip or fracture if hit on it's natural cleavage point. to a trained eye, a genuine diamond is fairly easy to distinguish from a fake. most diamonds will contain natural inclusions, some more visible than others, by visually examining the stone under a 10 power loop, inclusions are usually seen. diamonds can also be tested by a hand held device called a probe. the probe conducts heat through the stone and triggers a response, usually a beep or a flashing light. believe it or not the fakes actually have more color reflected, and they also have a pretty good amount of shine. "fakes" are usually cubic zirconia, moissanite, white sapphire, sometimes swarovski crystal, rhinestones, etc. the best way to determine is by the use of the diamond probe, or by a trained jeweler/gemologist.

Answer: Now that they have come out with stones that are actually ...
Now that they have come out with stones that are actually sturdier than diamonds- moissanite- I may not have spelled that correctly- but they are MORE expensive then real diamonds. It used to be if it can scratch glass, it's a real diamond-- but I really don't know about all the "imitation stones" what their capable of scratching or not...........sorry......... If someone like your boyfriend, gave you a diamond and you want to be sure, take it to a gemologist- and they usually own jewelry stores that sell real diamonds and he will appraise it- but be prepared to pay at least $100 for the appraisal or "look".

Answer: There is a specific gravity test that can be done . The ...
There is a specific gravity test that can be done . The problem is, the diamond in question has to be unmounted in order to test it. I've been out of the diamond "loop" for quite a while now and don't know how much a test would cost or if it's still able to be done with the fakes that are flooding the market today. I'd also suggest that if you plan on purchasing a diamond is to get it from a dealer who can give you a "certificate of authenticity" .Try not to get duped( which is easy to do if you don't have any knowledge regarding diamonds ). Do some research !!!!!! and DON"T BY A "BLOOD" DIAMOND .

Answer: You don't say what the state of the stone is - I presume ...
You don't say what the state of the stone is - I presume this is a cut stone from a piece of jewellery or in a setting? 1. You need to go to a jeweller and have the stone tested as cutting glass is not necessarily the final word to say it is a diamond. There is a scale called the Mohs scale which says that diamond is ranked at 10 with talc at 0 - glass comes in at 7. This means that Corrundums (family name for stones such as sapphires and rubies) and garnets are higher and therefore they can scratch glass too. 2. Not all diamonds are bright white and sparkly - unless the person who gave it to you is seriously rich any white clear and highly sparkly stone is likely to be either manufactured such as cubic zirconia or a natural stone such as white sapphire or zircon, both of which are often used to give the look of diamonds at more affordable price. 3. There is another stone that has a look similar to diamond but has more sparkle and is called moissonite - it too can cut glass. This too is a lab created stone although the original formulation was discovered through probing a meteorite. 4. If it is a deBeers diamond then there is a small etching on the edge of the diamond. They have quite recently started to do this as there are so many clone diamonds and they wanted to be able to distinguish between mined and lab created. 5. If it is set in a ring then look at the hallmarks - if it is silver 925 then it is unlikely to be diamond unless it is very small, if it is gold then look also for a secondary hallmark saying it's weight. If there is any marking saying cz then sorry it is not a diamond. 6. What does it matter if it is not a diamond? It's pretty and it made you happy, isn't that all that matters? If it is a shiny pebble - then I would say it is an astronomical chance it could be a diamond. In which case go to the library and get a book on gemstones - a diamond in the raw generally has a rhomboid shape namely looks like two pyramids stuck to one another but there is another stone called a herkimer diamond which was originally mistaken as a diamond - again do a bit of research.
