Don't do shorts with corsets (they look better with a loose top) and don't do thights, it's too casual for a corset. Create unique, especially well made pieces & don't charge too much to start with. Choose a dominant style, so people who like that particular style will especially gravitate to your work. Of course you?ll want to add other types of designs soon, but make sure that you have several pieces to choose from that a single person will fall in love with--not just the same thing in 5 colors! The most important thing you must remember about creating your own jewelry to sell is not to expect results overnight. Yes, you've poured hours of care into creating these beautiful works of art & you want to get paid for your time--but your first 6 months are an investment in the future! To begin with, keep your prices low to draw a customer base & get referrals. Make sure that you have at least a few items under 9.99 to draw people in--even if they are simpler items with less expensive components. Space precious metals with glass or acrylic for example--NICE glass & acrylic, but still a lower price point than sterling. Once people realize that your jewelry isn?t going to fall apart (like MANY handmade items unfortunately) they will be willing to spend more. Once you?ve sold 50-100 necklaces with rave reviews, more people will be willing to spend what they are worth. I know many beaders who claim they can?t sell anything on eBay. They weren?t patient enough to build a customer base & expected to get full price on their first creation. Work smarter!

I bought a beautiful off-white dress that has black beads all through it to wear to a fancy semi-formal xmas party. It's very vintage looking. It comes just below my knee. Is off white a bad color to wear in the wintertime? I plan on bringing a black pashmina with me so if I get cold I can wear that too. Any thoughts?

I think that'd be okay as long as you're comfortable in it. Not everyone needs to blend in with the season. I don't! I wear bright orange in January, and I get along fine.
